On Site 02 | BUND Headquarters, Berlin

The new federal headquarters of BUND is steadily taking shape on the Kindl site in Berlin-Neukölln. It is designed by SMAQ Architektur und Stadt (LP 1–5). ZRS Ingenieure is responsible for the structural engineering and acoustic planning. The architects from ZRS were involved in an advisory capacity during LP 3–5 and became fully engaged in the project starting from LP 6.

Currently, structural and timber construction work is underway on the 3rd floor. In addition to the timber frame construction with CLT ceilings and partially exposed wooden beams, prefabricated exterior wall elements with wood fiber insulation and integrated windows are being installed. The high degree of prefabrication allows for rapid assembly — a major advantage given the limited space available on Rollbergstraße. By autumn, the fourth and final floor will be completed, marking the end of the shell construction phase. Roofing and interior finishing will follow.
