The administration building of the Waste Recycling Station Augsburg is being extended with a new construction using load-bearing earth block masonry with a thin-layer earth mortar. The existing massive three-story building will be connected to the new extension at specific points. Initially, two stories of the new building will be constructed, although the structural design allows for a total of three possible stories. The main load-bearing structure of the extension building consists of load-bearing earth block masonry and glued laminated timber floor slabs. Wall sections and columns with high loads are being built using conventional clay bricks. The shell construction was carried out under an enclosure to prevent moisture ingress into the timber and clay components. The masonry will be insulated on the exterior with soft wood fiber insulation.
