PUBLICATION: STANDARDS IN EARTHEN ARCHITECTURE IN THE 2026 MASONRY CALENDAR

Christof Ziegert has co-authored a technical paper with Ulrich Röhlen in the Mauerwerk-Kalender 2026, published by Ernst & Sohn.

This edition focuses on sustainability and the preservation of existing buildings. The paper documents the development of earth building materials into regulated construction products: DIN 18940:2023-06 now permits load-bearing earth block masonry up to building class 4 for the first time. The German earth construction standards series will be published in English later this summer, serving as an international reference.

Earth render mortars offer around 5% of the CO₂ equivalent of cement-based plasters.
