Publication: CRADLE Book “Naturbaustoffe”

Another volume in the “CRADLE Book” series has been published, showcasing particularly successful examples of natural building materials.

One of the 46 featured buildings is our project New Life for a Peat Shed. In this project, basket maker and carpenter Emmanuel Heringer and master blacksmith Stefanie Heringer, in collaboration with ZRS Architekten Ingenieure, dismantled the Torfremise in Kolbermoor – which was threatened by demolition and disposal – repaired it and reconstructed it in Schechen. By adding a thermally insulated building envelope, the remise can now be used as both a residence and a basket-making workshop. The added components, made from traditional materials such as wood and earth, were constructed using a breathable building method. The result is a low-energy house that operates on regenerative energy.

The book is available in a German version by ff publishers.
