POLIS AWARD 2024 | 1ST PRICE | ECOLOGICAL REALITY CATEGORY

Weleda AG’s new logistics centre has won first prize in the ecological reality category of the Polis Award. The pioneer project made from renewable building materials and with a low-tech concept is based on a design by Michelgroup. It consists of three interconnected buildings: an administration building, a functional building and a high-bay warehouse. The timber high-bay warehouse has a façade made of rammed earth and timber, making it the largest continuous rammed earth building in Germany. ZRS Ingenieure were responsible for the development of the rammed earth mixture from the excavation pit and for the structural design of the rammed earth walls.
