On site 01 | Energy efficient Renovation Wannsee Fire Station

The first phase of the Wannsee fire station renovation is nearly complete. Final exterior wall elements and horizontal timber cladding are being installed. These timber panels are mechanically fastened to the exterior wall without bonded composite systems, making them fully demountable.
Meanwhile, the second phase has begun with the removal of the contaminated façade and concrete-topped roof structure. Once completed, new façade elements will be installed, and a green retention roof featuring photovoltaic panels will be added across the entire building – made possible by the reduced roof load. All windows and vehicle bay doors in the first construction phase have already been replaced, and the restoration of the exposed concrete surfaces on the tower and the ground-floor façades has been completed.
The building, which dates back to the 1970s, is being renovated while remaining in operation. In the coming weeks, users from the second construction section will relocate to the newly completed first section of the building allowing renovation to continue seamlessly.
