FOUNDATION STONE CEREMONY | THE FLYING CLASSROOM 2.0, BERLIN-SCHÖNEBERG

On 3 July 2026, the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district office laid the foundation stone for The Flying Classroom 2.0 at the Friedenau Community School. Guests from local politics, the school, and the project’s planning and construction teams gathered on Rubensstraße for the ceremony, among them Mayor and Senator of Finance Stefan Evers, district councillor Eva Majewski Sparacino, and district councillor Tobias Dollase. Leon Radeljić spoke on behalf of ZRS. A wall mock-up illustrated the timber construction method, students performed musical contributions, and Eva Majewski Sparacino filled a time capsule.

The project marks the first prototype of the initiative to move into construction: a three-storey, flat-roofed building in prefabricated timber panel construction, designed as a free-standing, temporary extension. Based on modular planning components, further school extension buildings following the circular principle of DFK 2.0 are to be approved and built at other locations at short notice in future.

We would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment as well as for the coordinated preparation and planning of the project, the Senate, the district office, the school and the planning team, and for the good cooperation with the contractors.
