Start of the second year of the certificate course in building with earth | Bauhaus-Universität Weimar
In the summer semester of 2026, the one-semester part-time certificate course in earth construction began for the second time at the Bauhaus University Weimar, with eight attendance phases under the academic direction of Christof Ziegert. It is aimed at civil engineers and architects, among others. Due to the high level of interest, 25 participants from among the applicants will be admitted this year. They will gain specific knowledge about building with earth, new earth building products and construction methods, and the current regulations. In addition, the program, with a large number of experienced lecturers from research and practice, aims to showcase the current state of the art and present the wide range of cutting-edge developments in clay construction and the handling of existing structures. In addition to Christof Ziegert, Jasmine Alia Blaschek, Leon Radeljic, and Benedikt Füger also pass on their experience to students as ZRS lecturers. A field trip and a laboratory and practical day round off the continuing education program. Upon successful completion of the program, the titles “Specialist Engineer for Erath Construction” or “Specialist Planner for Earth Construction” are awarded, depending on the requirements.
The certificate course is a cooperation between the Bauhaus University Weimar, the ClayExpertCenter of the MFPA Weimar, and the Bauhaus Continuing Education Academy Weimar e.V. in collaboration with the Dachverband Lehm e.V. and the Industrieverband Lehmbaustoffe e.V.
