START OF CONSTRUCTION | THE FLYING CLASSROOM 2.0, BERLIN-SCHÖNEBERG
A temporary building is being constructed for the Friedenau Community School to meet current and projected classroom needs. Construction work began at the end of 2025 on a part of the school grounds that was previously used as a soccer field. A three-story flat-roofed building is being constructed using prefabricated timber panel construction.
The Flying Classroom 2.0 is planned as a free-standing, temporary extension to the existing school and serves as a pilot project for further buildings of this type. A modular structure with flexible partition rooms will help to ensure that this type of building can be realized particularly quickly at other school locations in the future, using type approvals for block-based planning documents.
