On Site 02 | TULIUM
The structural centrepiece of the TULIUM pavilion on the TU Berlin campus is currently visible on site: a large-span timber truss, partly built from reclaimed wood.
The truss consists of tension and compression members connected using timber-to-timber joints. The cross-sections of the diagonal members follow the distribution of shear stresses along the truss. The additive system is designed to accommodate the typical uncertainties of reclaimed material, while still achieving large spans.
All reuse structural elements in the building are concentrated in one area and will be directly accessible to visitors in the finished pavilion.
The TULIUM is part of this year’s Tag der Architektur on 27 June 2026. Guided tours are unfortunately fully booked.
