German construction Award 2026 | NOMINATION

Our project, the Berlin-Friedrichsfelde Zoo Administration Building, which we renovated to improve its energy efficiency, primarily by renewing the building envelop, has been nominated for the 2026 German Construction Award in the categories ‘Building in Existing Contexts’ and ‘Circular Construction’.

In addition, our joint project ‘Holz Ziegel Lehm – Pilot Project for Sustainable Multi-Storey Residential Construction in Berlin’, which we are implementing together with Bruno Fioretti Marquez and STADT UND LAND Wohnbauten-Gesellschaft, has been nominated in the ‘Simple Construction’ category. The buildings were designed to be as robust, simple, solid and durable as possible. The use of diffusion-open building materials means that ventilation and air conditioning technology is not required. The planning, construction process and use of the houses are being scientifically monitored and evaluated.

The award will be presented on 24 March 2026 at the digitalBAU trade fair in Cologne.
