Expert Building Survey of a Natural Stone Residence in Neckargemünd
A two-day building survey in Neckargemünd aimed to produce an expert assessment of the structural condition of a natural stone residential building. ZRS Ingenieure first inspected the building visually from basement to attic, documenting potential damage.
Selective structural openings followed: on the staircase’s external wall to determine its material composition, visually documented and additionally sampled for later laboratory analysis, and near the bearings of two ceiling joist ends, from above in the attic and from below on the ground floor. Accessible timber components were also checked for condition, damage and potential wood preservative contamination, and drilling dust samples were taken from mineral components of the external wall to assess moisture and salt content.
The material sample from the staircase are analysed externally for material composition and building-physics parameters, the drilling dust samples in-house for moisture and salt content. Based on these findings, ZRS derived recommendations for refurbishment and energy-related modernisation for further planning.
