Laying of the Foundation Stone of The Museum Pavilion and Touristic Information Trails
Monday 10 November was the long-anticipated day of the laying of the foundation stone of the Museum Pavilion and Touristic Information Trails on the TU Berlin Campus – an important step in the joint project of TU Berlin and the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office.
The event was opened with a welcome from Prof. Dr. Geraldine Rauch, the President of the TU Berlin, followed with speeches by Franziska Giffey, senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises in Berlin and Christoph Brzezinski, acting mayor of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf as well as by Prof. Eike Roswag-Klinge from ZRS Architekten Ingenieure.
The aim of the project is to connect the university and the city and to open up the campus to the surrounding urban space. TU Berlin plans to transform the campus into a central place of exchange between science, art and society. The building and the accompanying landscape architecture were designed in a participatory and transdisciplinary process from within the university. It is intended to be a pioneering project for sustainable and climate-friendly planning and building practice, establishing new standards in terms of construction, design and processes.
