27–28 JUNE 2026 | TAG DER ARCHITEKTUR – OPEN ARCHITECTURE DAY

Saturday, 27 June 2026, 10:00 / 12:00 / 14:00: Architecture Tour TULIUM | Museum Pavilion and Knowledge Trails on the TU Berlin Campus | Registration via presse@zrs.berlin | Sturdy footwear required

This year’s Tag der Architektur again takes place on the last weekend of June, with events at sites across Germany. We are offering a guided tour of the TULIUM construction site on the TU Berlin campus.

The exhibition and transfer building TULIUM, with its innovative load-bearing structure made from salvaged timber, is designed as a climate-responsive low-tech building. It will be realised exclusively from renewable raw materials and recycled components, with the smallest possible footprint. The use of sealing, concrete, and steel in the foundations has been largely avoided. Component-specific reuse concepts are being developed in collaboration with several research projects, coordinated by the Natural Building Lab at TU Berlin. The B(e)Ware living laboratory enables the transfer from research into practice through the development of implementation strategies, verification methods, and planning processes for the simplified, accelerated, and high-quality reuse of load-bearing components.

The crane has been turning on site since May: the timber structure is currently being erected, and the first reclaimed wood components have already arrived. TULIUM is a joint project of TU Berlin and the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district authority and forms part of the Knowledge Trails on the campus. The project receives funding through the German Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures (GRW), supported by federal and state funds.
