Emergency Conservation in Beirut

The Ottoman Palace “Bayt Kassar” in the heart of Beirut has been conservated for the past 2 years. Now it is one of the few historical buildings in the old town of Beirut which are still in a preservable condition after the devastating explosion on August 4, 2020. ZRS engineers designed a concept for the preservation of the building which made it suitable for light earthquakes. These implemented measures apparently contributed to the fact that the building is in a comparatively good condition after the explosion. The building owners have expressed their support for the preservation of the building and have started with the emergency safety measures under our support and supervision.
